F. Lee Weaver earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest College and his Juris Doctor from the Wake Forest College School of Law; after graduating from law school, Mr. Weaver studied business and accounting at East Carolina University. Mr. Weaver is licensed by the North Carolina State Bar and is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Eastern and Western Districts of North Carolina. Prior to founding this firm with Charles W. Bennett, Mr. Weaver served as Vice President and Counsel for First Union Corporation. Mr. Weaver also served as House Counsel for Family Dollar Stores. During his career, Mr. Weaver has served on boards of directors of various public and privately held businesses and nonprofit organizations.

In 1984, Dave joined the law firm of Weaver, Bennett & Bland, P.A. as a founding partner. Over the last 40 years, Dave has handled complex matters in many areas of civil litigation. The types of cases that Dave has handled include medical malpractice, legal malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, caveats (will contests), condemnation actions, consumer litigation, fraud, unfair trade practices, business litigation, unfair competition, violations of non-compete agreements and many other types of civil litigation.
Dave enjoys fighting for the little guy and being a champion for his client’s rights. Dave has never been afraid to take on the rich and powerful. Whether it is suing an NBA owner accused of sexual assault or suing the state legislature for unlawfully changing the rules governing the election for Supreme Court justices or suing giant German chemical manufacturers in class action lawsuits for price fixing, Dave Bland has always been willing to stand up and fight for what is right.
Dave’s founded Sustainable Energy Community Development Company (S.E.C.D.C.) in 2010. S.E.C.D.C. built huge solar farms primarily in Eastern North Carolina. S.E.C.D.C. provided leadership in promoting sustainable energy policy at both the state and national level. The creation of S.E.C.D.C. is just one example of Dave’s love for giving back to his community. Dave has served five terms on the Board of Commissioners for the Town of Matthews, served as Matthews’ representative to the Metropolitan Planning Organization and he has served as a board member and officer for numerous other Matthews’ area organizations.
