Asserting a child's legal right to an appropriate education

The first step in the process is to see that your child's disability is properly identified through a non-discriminatory process. When your child has been identified as having a disability, representatives of the school district are required to work with your family to develop an individual education program (IEP) designed to serve your child's unique needs in the least restrictive environment.
