Rebecca Watts Joins FirmRebecca Watts joined the law firm of Weaver, Bennett & Bland, P.A. in April 2009. Ms. Watts works in the area of family and domestic law. She is a 1998 graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Law. She was licensed to practice law in NorthCarolina in August 1998. Since she began her family law practice, she has become certified by the North Carolina State Bar as a Specialist in Family Law, has competed training to be a parenting coordinator, has become certified by Mecklenburg County as a parenting coordinator, has completed mediation training, and has been certified by the North Carolina Dispute Resolution Commission as a Family Financial Mediator. Ms. Watts moved to Charlotte in the fall of 2006 and has been practicing in Mecklenburg and Union Counties since that time. Prior to her relocation to Charlotte, she practiced in Orange, Chatham, Durham, and Wake Counties. Ms. Watts has a special interest in domestic violence law and in the past two years has represented more than 50 women in hearings seeking domestic violence protective orders. She has also been asked to speak to groups of attorneys on domestic violence law. In addition to her domestic practice, Ms. Watts also serves as a mediator in family law cases and in that role attempts to help litigants work together toward a mutually beneficial resolution of their domestic issues. In addition to her litigation and mediation practices, Ms. Watts has also developed a family law appellate practice. Ms. Watts has been married to her husband John since 1994 and she and John have one child, Ryan, and one dog who she believes is the world’s best Labrador Retriever. |
