Weaver Bennett & Bland P.A. is again sponsoring an annual art show at their offices in Matthews together with the Silver Brush Art Society, a group of local artists and friends who for many years, have been busy painting and preparing for their upcoming Art Show & Sale in support of the Matthews Help Center. The Silver Brush Society chose this organization in 2000 to contribute a portion of the proceeds of their show and has continued on a yearly basis because of The Help Center's worthwhile mission. This is the seventh year for the event that will be held in Matthews on Saturday, November 10th 2007.

The mission of the Matthews Help Center is to care for those in the community by providing programs and services that will meet life's basic needs, and by connecting those in need with resources that improve the quality of life. Its services include crisis assistance with food, clothing, monetary assistance, health related transportation, blood pressure checks three mornings per week and a Thrift Shop. The Center has five paid staff, as well as approximately 130 volunteers. It operates out of a newly constructed 5,000 square foot building on Ames Street in Matthews which was paid for in full by donations. Operating revenue comes from donations, grants, and Thrift Shop sales.

The Silver Brush Society is a group of experienced artists that use such media as watercolor, acrylic, polymers, pastel, and oil. The artists have created works that are proudly displayed in the homes and offices of many prior attendees to the annual show. Most of the artists have painted together for many years.

The group will be showing their new works at the Art Show & Sale on November 10 in the offices of Weaver Bennett & Bland (196 and 189 N. Trade Street) in downtown Matthews. Group members currently are Greg Barnes, Vickie Ciccolella, Don Gilmer, Julie Johnson, John Lomax, John Moeslein, Sharon Schwenk, Peggy Simmons and Prudy Weaver. The Silver Brush Society looks forward to having you attend the Art Show, enjoy their work, and help support the Matthews Help Center.

See you there!
